NexGen Bricks are uniform in shape and size (9 x 4.25 x 3 inches) and have a far better finish as compared to clay bricks whose shape and size varies as they are handmade.
NexGen Bricks are manufactured through an automated process which control the raw material ratios, uniform mixing, uniform and specified pressing loads which assures consistency in brick quality.
NexGen Bricks have better thermal insulation than clay bricks. They don't absorb heat; rather, they reflect heat. Therefore, they keep the interiors of buildings/houses cooler even in summer; hence they are more suitable for local conditions and can help to save on electricity bill.
They are less porous, absorbs less water, whereas burnt clay bricks absorbs more water during construction. Therefore, they help in water saving during construction and reduce chances of dampness on walls during rainy season. NexGen Bricks have optimum water absorption of about 12-13% required for plastering unlike cement bricks that have water absorption of about 5-6%, thus making them difficult for plastering.
Owing to its optimum strength, NexGen Bricks can be drilled, sawed, nailed and chiseled very conveniently with both manual and power driven tools without chipping or cracking, unlike cement bricks which cannot be drilled or chiselled using manual tools and gets cracked because of its unusually high compressive strength.
NexGen Bricks are twice better in noise insulation than clay bricks.
NexGen bricks are environment friendly as it is a 100% green building product. Their process of manufacturing is less energy intensive as compared to clay bricks. They help in keeping environment clean as they use NexGen (more than 50% of its weight), thus provides the most constructive solution to nation's NexGen utilization problem.
With solid wall construction and finishes, there are fewer, if any, cavities for insects and rodents to dwell in. Being made of inorganic materials, NexGen bricks do not promote growth of molds & pests.
Cost Impact Analysis Compared to Bricks | |||
Cost Component | Saving in Component | Estimated Impact on Project Cost | Explanation |
Mortal Material | 40% | 2% | NexGen Bricks has a width of 4.25 inches, thus in external walls of 9 inches only 0.5 inch of mortar is required between two bricks compared to 1 inch mortar which is required in case of clay bricks. |
Plastering Material | 45% | 3% | Exceptional dimensional accuracy & uniform shape, eliminates need of three-coat plaster walls and allows for a final 6 mm skin coat (putty/gypsum plaster) |
Wastage | 12% | 0.5% | Breakage in bricks might be as high as 15% which in case of NexGen Bricks is less than 3% |
Labour | 20% | 3% | Due to its dimensional accuracy and lower plaster requirement it provides 20% faster construction |
Total Impact on Project Cost | 8.5% |
